Hi thank you, and I’m glad you like my stuff :). I often use clay board for ink work. By adding ink and then removing it with a knife, I have much more control over values than just drawing in ink.

Thank you! I do, occasionally, sell original pieces, but I don’t have a good system in place – available pieces, pricing, shipping – to make the process convenient. Dear Mr. Cagle, I just discovered your work and find it exceptional. Specifically, the "Dark Tropic" poster (white pants) is absolutely captivating. I was wondering if your work is traditional or entirely digital? I've only worked traditionally, and find it difficult to "scale" my work to the page size and achieve my desired level of detail - is 8.5x11 too small? Do you have any tips/suggestions for laying out a composition per detail level? Thank you for your time, -Sam

Hi Sam, thanks for the kind words! The Dark Tropic poster is ink, although I do jump between digital and traditional regularly. I have a tight hand and work on relatively small media, but even for me 8.5x11 is just too small for the amount of noodling/rendering I do. That Dark Tropic piece is like 13x18 (or thereabouts, can’t remember exactly atm lol) if that helps give you an idea. For me, I find that laying out the composition in small thumbnails before working larger helps me to quickly arrive at a composition that reads clearly. Then it’s just a matter of scaling up the thumbnail to full working size, et voila: composition sorted, all that’s left to do is draw the damned thing. Best of luck.
